Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients

1 cup of butter
1/2 cup white sugar
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
2 teaspoons hot water
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 12 oz bag of semisweet chocolate chips

 

Cooking Directions

Heat the oven to 350 degrees.
Mix the butter, white sugar and brown sugar until smooth. Add one egg at a time.  Beat together.  Stir in the vanilla.  Dissolve the baking soda in hot water and add to the batter, along with the salt and cream of tartar.  Mix together.  Stir in the flour and chocolate chips. 
 
Optional: Refrigerate the mix for about an hour.
 
Use a tablespoon to scoop out even spoonfuls and place on an ungreased cookie sheet.
 
Bake for 13 minutes, until the edges are nicely browned.  Cool on cooling rack.
